Cambodia's Largest Ever Ivory Haul

What is being reported as Cambodia's largest ever ivory seizure took place on 9th May 2014, with 3 tons found inside shipping containers at the country's main port of Sihanoukville.

Details have not been confirmed but Malaysia has been reproted as the previous port of call for the ivory, and it is believed the shipment was ultimately bound for either Viet Nam or China. A tip off led to X ray scanning of the containers which revealed 108 sacks wrapped round the tusks.

Enforcement authorities have recently been intercepting an increasing amount of ivory either in or on its way to Cambodia and many believe this to reflect a corresponding escalation in the level of ivory trade involving the country.
